Park City, UT “High West Distillery”


August 15, 2018 ~ OH MY GOODNESS!  Holy Smoked Salmon!  Have you ever seen anything like this?  I ordered a Salad and then the Smoked Salmon on the side.  I can taste it now.  It was Buttery, Moist, Heavily Smoked, Slightly Charred, Pressed apart with your fork and was the most delicious piece of Salmon I have ever tasted.  What in the world?  I would fly back there just to have this Fish!  I kid you not, nothing like it anywhere.


I could just write about this piece of Salmon but I must do the rest of the review.  I wish I could eat this right now.  I can re-live and re-taste this just by looking at the pictures. Simply to die for.

Steve (the Manager) with Amy (the hostess).  The hostess stand is outside the restaurant.  We came here because the driver from our hotel shuttle service recommended it.  We asked him to bring us into town and asked him for his suggestion.  This is where we landed.  What a treat!!  It’s an interesting place.  I will show you some photos of the outside.  There are actually two separate buildings or houses.  Steve offered to give us a tour of both.  He was really great! You can go to their website to read more about the history.

So, the Yellow house is on the left and then the other house is on the right and there is outdoor seating in-between.  The Yellow house is a little more fine dining I guess you would say, a completely different atmosphere altogether and there is a neat lounging area and then a large bar along with restaurant seating.  Very unique.  The other house is very big inside and is where the Whiskey distillery is.  It is a casual, saloon type atmosphere and has dark wood, tall ceilings, a nice long bar (which is where we sat) and then a large open seating concept.  The place was packed!  It would be fun to go back and experience both houses as they were so different from eachother.

Our fabulous Bartenders Holly and Kambrin.  They were both wonderful, attentive and really great at their jobs. They make a lot of Craft Cocktails there and of course serve Whiskey and Whiskey Flights.  I had my usual Chardonnay. If Tony Q was with us, I might of had a Whiskey (as I smile).


Like I mentioned the pictures are awful do to the lighting but this Salad was a 10!  I have never, ever had a Salad with so much depth of flavor.  It was the Smoked Beet Salad.  The Smoky Beets along with the Pickled Beets and then the Candied Pistachio, Slightly Salty Feta and then the Gremalata!  EEGADS!  For those of you who don’t know what Gremolata is it is usually made with Minced Parsley, Lemon Peel and Garlic but there are many variations of it, but anyway it was so smart to add this to the Salad.  It added such an amazing flavor to the whole dish and then the Chef thought to add a Spicy Buttermilk Goat Cheese Dressing.  Oh my goodness!  Just like the Smoked Salmon, simply over the top, amazing!IMG_0855


This was fabulous too!  This was the Chicken Schnitzel.  Two Pounded Chicken Breasts, (yes, two) coated with Parmesan Bread Crumbs and baked perfectly.  The Butter, Caper Sauce was silky, smooth and loaded with flavor. The light Arugula Salad was a nice compliment.  Beautiful dish.


I wanted you to see the menu as it is unusual and pretty special.  Prices are very reasonable for having such fantastic Chefs. I would think it would be more expensive. I just noticed that I didn’t get photos of the Sandwiches and Burgers which I’m sure are amazing. The lucky people who live here get to come here all the time.  I ‘m sure it is crazy busy in Ski Season.




This was a fantastic find and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Park City, UT.  We are considering going back there during busy ski season just to check out more restaurants and of course re-visit this one. I would go back just for that Salmon!
