Seared Beef Tenderloin in a Grilled Hana Papaya
OVERALL RATING: 10+ FOOD: 10+ SERVICE: 10+. AMBIENCE: 10+
BEST RESTAURANT EVER! My husband and I just visited Mama’s Fish House for the 3rd time. Each time they take care of you like gold. This time, May 5, 2018 I must give a shout out to our waiter Marcus! He was absolutely fantastic! His attention to detail was impeccable as well as his knowledge and glowing personality. A waiter can make or break an experience but in this case Marcus was a 10+
Please note, that if you are going to Mama’s Fish House for the first time, be prepared for the price tag, which is very, very high but every single penny is worth it. We know that when we go here it is for a special occasion and we are going to spend a small fortune. *You can also go to their website to see the menu and pricing which they update daily. Make sure to make a reservation well in advance. We have also been here for lunch where you can get the same incredible food and service but with a slightly smaller price tag. Something to consider.
The atmosphere at Mama’s is incredible; from the minute you walk down the steps, to the breathtaking ocean views and tropical grounds to the friendly hostesses waiting to greet you to the impeccable place settings and beautifully presented food you are in for the treat of your life. When my husband said he was taking me here I was “over the moon” excited! It simply is my favorite restaurant of anywhere we travel.
*SEE THE PICTURE ABOVE: One of my favorite things is an appetizer which is Seared Beef Tenderloin in a Grilled Hana Papaya. I order this every time we come. The Beef is moist, tender and lightly marinated and the Papaya is grilled and fork tender and I eat every single bit of it. The squeeze of Lime brings out the flavors and gives it that extra pop of Citrus on your tongue.
Tristan Island Lobster Tail (from the most inhabited Island in the World) alongside Mama’s Stuffed Fish, stuffed with Lobster and Crab and Baked in a Macadamia Nut Crust
Uku (caught in deep sea reef by Feliciano Uberita near Keanae, sautéed with Hamakua Mushrooms, Garlic Butter, White Wine and Capers
Polynesian Black Pearl Liliko’i Chocolate Mousse in a Pastry Shell
Beautiful Tropical Plant Centerpiece and Mama’s Menu. Chef’s Sample Soup and Poi upon request. *POI is a Native Hawaiian dish cooked from Taro Root, pounded to a smooth paste and then mixed with water. It is definitely a required taste. I had a hard time describing it when I tasted it and am having a hard time describing it now. It was thick, very creamy like a rich pudding but flavorless, really. The consistency was really nice though and I kinda rolled it around in my mouth trying to figure it out. I don’t think it’s something I would ever be fond of but it was a good experience to try it.
All the food at Mama’s Fish House is out of this world and a culinary delight. If you can go, just once in your life, it is an experience you will never forget.
