Gilbert, AZ. New Restaurant – “FIREBIRDS” Wood Fired Grill

“Firebirds” Wood Fired Grill just opened next to the San Tan Mall area in Gilbert, AZ. on East Williams Field Road!  We have been waiting for this restaurant to open! They have 3 other locations;  Chandler, PHX-Peoria and Tucson.

MY OVERALL RATING: 8  FOOD: 9 SERVICE: 7 AMBIENCE: 8 VALUE FOR YOUR MONEY: 7+

*Please note that I am only doing a Food Review on Lunch and will do another review when I go for Dinner. *Also, feel free to pass on my Website/Blog and this review to your friends and family.

The “New” Firebirds, right next to the San Tan Outdoor Mall is a great location and I am so happy they chose to put it there. It is so nice to have another fine-dining type restaurant to go to. I look forward to bringing guests here when they come to visit.  Yay another new place!

My husband and I have been to the “Firebirds” in Chandler,, AZ. on 2 separate occasions. We were so impressed that we invited guests the second time.  We would have gone more often but it wasn’t in our neck of the woods; hence the reason we are so happy to have this new location.

The building is beautiful and the interior is trendy, warm and inviting. The lounge area sits off the bar and has high-tops with chairs (which are lower than normal tables) and kinda cool looking.  I have never seen this design in tables before. There is a small fireplace in that space which adds intimacy and charm. I think it would be great to go with a group of people or just another couple for HH and jus hang out and relax.

The HH menu looks great, (lower prices) and on Mondays they have half off select bottles and glasses of Wine.  Outside of the HH Menu, I like that they offer a 5oz. and a 8oz pour and those prices range from $8 up to $16 per glass. With the HH prices on Wine being so reasonable, it makes me think they are only serving the 5oz pour, but I am not certain about that.

The Hamburgers here are outstanding!  They have a really great char-flavor and they use my favorite Extra Sharp Tillamook Cheddar Cheese.  They offer Crispy Tater Tots, Fries, Fruit or Cider Vinegar Slaw as sides. Price on a Cheese Burger was $11.95.

I had one of their “Specialty” Salads, the “Colorado Chicken Salad” which was Wood Fired Chicken, Mixed Greens, Crumbled Bleu Cheese (a little shy on this), Spiced Pecans which I really liked, (you could taste that little bit of heat), Dried Cherries, Granny Smith Apples (diced small) and a Light Raspberry Vinaigrette (not too sweet).  The portion was just right not overly huge.  Price on that seemed high, at $14.25.  It appears that the Dinners are pretty reasonably priced compared to the Salads. You see on the menu above that you can get a Salmon Entree with sides for just $16.95 or Baby Back Ribs for $14.95.

If a person didn’t want to spend so much they could go to HH to see the place and try out some of their discounted Appetizers. I am SO happy to see more fine-sit down restaurants coming in as I was afraid all we were seeing go up in the Queen Creek area was fast food.

The Bar is nice and big and very attractive.  The kitchen is in the back of the restaurant and is open so you can see the cooks working.  The restaurant is quite large but still remains quaint. It appears that doors in the restaurant would open up to the large, covered, outdoor patio, which looked really nice.

Service was good and our food came out in a timely fashion which is good news since they just opened their doors.

*Coming from a Hospitality background, I observed 2 things:

#1 – The managers were visible but it would’ve been nice if they had come around and asked us how everything was. Perhaps they will do this, but we didn’t see it on our visit.

#2 – Our Bartender was nice but didn’t introduce herself or ask our names.  I think this is “lost art” these days and it would be nice to have someone really care that you were there versus just being an “order-taker”.

I would love to hear your comments.
