FABULOUS LOBSTER MASHED POTATOES INFUSED WITH LEMON ZEST!
MARIPOSA! This is one of the BEST restaurants I have ever been to!

Lisa Dahl is the Chef and Owner of 4 Fabulous restaurants in Sedona, Arizona. My husband and I had the pleasure of dining at Mariposa over the weekend (June 8-10, 2018) for our Anniversary. We discovered her sister restaurant called “Dahl & Di Luca” Ristorante Italiano the night before and then realized that Mariposa was also hers. Both restaurants are fantastic and I would go back to both, however, Mariposa is seriously one of the best experiences over-all that I have ever had at any restaurant,ever.
Read the menu introduction above and it will give you a peak into the mind, heart and soul of Chef and Owner Lisa Dahl. I have never met her but hope to some day. She is a true inspiration, and to be able to share her gift of food, flavor, passion and message with the world is a special gift, one I will remember for a long time. Her restaurants (the two I’ve been to thus far) transform you, lure you in (in a good way) and capture all your senses while taking you to a place, a place that she has created…this isn’t just a restaurant, it is a vision, a feeling and a memory that will leave a lasting impression on “your” heart and soul. “Dahl & Di Luca” has this same alluring feel to it, (read about it in the previous blog), but for some reason “Mariposa” just stood out. If the other is a 10 this has to be a 10+.
As you can see by the photos the place is looks amazing, (I wish the lighting had been better). The food is scrumptious and beautifully presented.
Side Note: One thing I really appreciated was that the TV’s in the bar area only had food on it. The TV’s showed Lisa Dahl making food step by step. She is a genius in many ways, but in this case, I say that because we ordered the two things that we saw her make. Watching her in action made you want to order that very thing.
The Caesar Salad had a really nice creamy dressing with a hint of heat. It was very different and very special. We both liked the side plates they brought with it.
The Mussels were the best I’ve ever had. Spicy Broth, it was a little thicker than a normal broth and it had big pieces of Spicy Sausage. There was also Fresh Corn in it which I love because of the crunch as you bite into it. The Mussels themselves were cooked perfectly.
Ok, here comes the highlight! The LOBSTER MASHED POTATOES WITH LEMON ZEST were so out of this world I wanted to bathe in them. I have never seen this dish anywhere else and the flavors were spectacular. The fresh Lobster was plentiful and the Mashed Potatoes were creamy and infused with Lemon Zest. Simply wonderful and I’m certain that myself and many others will go back many times just for this side dish. I mean seriously, I would drive 2-1/2 hours from my house just to go there for the night. The cost was $20 but it was enough for 2 to 3 people, well worth the cost with that fabulous Lobster.
The Chicken was beautifully done. It was so moist and tender and almost had a poached feel to it. The Lemon and Garlic was prominent and it too had fresh Corn underneath it. We would order it again.
The evening ended beautifully with a Key Lime Tart with an Anniversary Fondant piece as well as a Mango Sorbet. The coffee so far at her restaurants has been amazing as well. There is nothing like really great coffee at the end of the meal, with cream of course!
We couldn’t have asked for a more cherished memory on our Anniversary this year. We can hardly wait to go back to Mariposa and also Dahl & Di Luca as well as try her other two restaurants, (Cucina Rustica and Pisa Lisa).
